I spent an ideal Saturday night with a beautiful woman and a lot of beautiful bikes at Minnecycle 2010, a handmade bike show for Minneapolis' suprisingly large number of frame builders. I forgot my camera, so there's no way to prove to you the existence of the aforementioned woman. However, I can show you this (courtesy of fontosaurus's flikr stream):
A little blurry, but you can see that Mr. Bob Brown has inserted machined couplers into his dropout and seatstay. There's a single M5 bolt that connects the two. I hadn't seen a belt-drive solution like this before (and was about 3 free beers deep) so I was ranting and raving about it to everyone I knew. Smart, clean, strong. Two thumbs up.
I’m the guy responsible for the photo, and yeah, it’s a brilliant design. Very similar to something I’d thought up for the belt-drive road bike I’ve been working on, much to my dismay. Bob’s design is much superior to what I’d been thinking with regards to the interface. His “teeth” pattern is genius.
You’ll probably see what I’m talking about during the next Minnecycle. I’ll be accused of copying him, but that’s okay.

Having a fan from behind didn’t hurt, either; talk about a steamy room. That was definitely the best spot to be in at Minnecycle.
